Mandatory Certification for All PHYA Coaches
In order that our coaches have a more positive impact on all of our players the Babe Ruth League, Inc., which we are affiliated with, has developed a mandatory course for improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. It is very important for youth coaches to be properly trained to focus more on the child’s baseball experience and less on winning games.  Babe Ruth League, Inc. has developed the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification Program. Under the program, ALL PHYA baseball/softball coaches, regardless of level, must complete the course BEFORE the beginning of the Spring 2008 season. Successful completion of this course is required to coach in the program.

The course is available now, so you have ample time to complete certification requirements prior to the PHYA Spring 2008 season. The course will take 2 to 4 hours of your time. Coaches who complete the exam with a score of 80% or better will receive the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification. You will be able to print a certificate of completion and wallet card from the Web site. Each coach will be required to provide a copy of the certificate to Pat Bruno, President, PHYA (you can send via e-mail to Patsybru@hotmail.com  and it can be done right from the web site. Your name will be added to the coaches registry as having completed the course.

The Level One certification is valid for three years. The course costs $19.95. It is the coaches’ responsibility to pay the fee. Upon successful completion, you may be eligible for reimbursement from PHYA.  You can order the online course www.baberuthcoaching.org/coaches/.
